Greg Hutchinson was born in Ravenna, Ohio, in 1969, and was raised in Pontiac and Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he placed his faith in Christ as a young boy. Greg attended college at Pensacola Christian College of Pensacola Florida. He received his Bachelor of Arts Ministerial degree from Dallas Baptist University of Dallas, Texas, in 1994. Greg and his wife, Valerie, have served together in church ministry at Temple since they were married in 1990. They currently reside in Highland Village with one son, Garrett Austin, who is seven years old. Pastor Greg is simply known as “Brother Greg” to most of the people at Temple Baptist Church.
Pastor Greg teaches the senior high Sunday school class each week at 9:30 AM. He began the Outbreak program for teens in 1999 which meets each Wednesday night. The Outbreak program is both an outreach and discipleship program for the youth and has grown to an average of over 75 teens each week. Perhaps his greatest responsibility is the organization and implementing of the teen summer programs at the church. Pastor Greg utilizes a summer camp for teens each year as well as different youth conferences which promote discipleship through strong challenges from the Word of God. The single largest function of the year is an annual foreign mission trip. Temple teens have served missionaries in the countries of Mexico, Ireland, Canada, Jamaica, England, Romania, Germany, and locations within our own United States. The current mission trip is planned for Sydney, Australia. Service on the mission trips includes vacation Bible schools, youth and teen rallies, physical work improving mission properties, musical presentations, direct evangelization and assistance in advertising the local mission works.
Greg teaches Bible Doctrines for the secondary of Temple Christian Academy. He also has a class for Senior Leadership which includes practical principles for marriage and family, preparation for college, finances, and general leadership guidance. Some of Greg’s other responsibilities include advertising and promoting of the church and its functions as well as assisting Pastor Wallace with day-to-day operations and counseling needs of the church.
Pastor Greg is very actively involved with the choir and drama team of Temple. Personal ministry includes singing in small groups and solo work. Greg works closely with the music department director, Rick Beets, in some organization and promoting of musical productions.
The goal of youth pastor, Greg Hutchinson, is to encourage the youth under his influence to be disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ.
